Films from South Korea

South Korea is specifically selected as the source for inspiration because of the impressive industrial growth the country has undergone. Based on low labour costs, use of high-tech manufacturing facilities, development of innovative products and a strong government policy South Korea has grown from one of the most underdeveloped countries in the world to one of the most advanced manufacturing countries in the world.

We hope this publication provides some insights and inspiration for Danish industry to learn from the South Korean way of doing things. We have chosen a number of themes and cases, which contain valuable learnings for Danish industry. The themes represent two broad sets of factors: 1) external system-level factors related to culture, history, dominant management ideologies, investment regimes; 2) internal firm-level factors related to the generic patterns of strategy institutionalised in the business system and individual company’s development path and experience. The insights and cases are derived from a range of visits to Korean companies, universities and other institutions. These will be presented on the following pages, and are supported by a series of films giving first-hand impressions from South Korea.
